Brets story began in 1991, when Alain Glon created a potato production line in partnership with Breton farmers. Alain's initial idea was to provide additional income to Breton farmers by developing a potato production line specifically for potato chips. From variety selection, planting, assistance with growing techniques, and finally harvesting: the Pontivy agricultural area quickly became a specialist in this production.

Alain's entrepreneurial gamble quickly came to fruition in 1995, when he created the first Breton potato chip factory from scratch. The company specialised from its inception, launching the first flavoured potato chips on the French market with its Brets brand.
