About Guy de Jean
In 1920, Aunt Agathe began making umbrellas and parasols in the traditional way in her Parisian boutique. Two decades later, Guy de Jean, a young New Wave designer visiting Paris, met his future wife, Christiane, and gave birth to the Guy de Jean brand and style.
Very quickly, due to the business's growth, Mr and Mrs Guy de Jean settled in a small village in central France, "Donzy," close to Paris and the well-known villages of Pouilly-sur-Loire and Sancerre. In 1990, Mr. Pierre de Jean took over the management of the business to give it a more international dimension. His wife, Catherine, soon joined him.
Since then, the ever-creative and varied collections have continued to evolve, with ever more originality and elegance. New techniques, new ideas, the choice of fabrics and handles, the expertise and style specific to Guy de Jean, have ensured its growing development and a reputation recognised by the biggest names.
Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant aka a Living Heritage Company
The Living Heritage Company (EPV) label was awarded to Guy de Jean in 2011 by Frédéric Lefebvre, Secretary of State for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. It recognises Guy de Jean's rare, renowned and ancestral know-how, based on the mastery of traditional techniques.
